Meet The Team

Introducing Jose Berrones: A master of the violin hailing from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and a current performer with the prestigious Roswell Symphony Orchestra.

His recent engagements showcase his versatile talent, including performances with the Paso Del Norte Chamber Orchestra and an NMSU student composition recital featuring the work of Albert Yoshimoto. Both performances were expertly directed by conductor Jorge Martinez-Rios.

A passionate musician, Jose pursued his Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of New Mexico and later earned his Master's degree in Performance from California State University, Northridge. His commitment to his craft led him to play with an array of orchestras including the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, Roswell Symphony Orchestra, and Santa Fe Symphony and Chorus while at UNM.

His talent took him to Southern California, where he graced numerous orchestras with his performance. His portfolio includes the American Youth Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra, Calabasas Chamber Orchestra, Conejo Valley Pops Orchestra, El Dorado Opera, and Santa Clarita Symphony. Jose's notable role as the associate concertmaster of the San Fernando Valley Symphony Orchestra further attests to his skills.

Jose's chamber music performances paint a broad stroke in his musical journey. He has performed at the Brand Library in Glendale, CA and participated in the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival in Alaska and the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival in Waimea, HI. Always faithful to his roots, Jose has delighted audiences in his hometown by performing traditional and contemporary music for the Xcellent Music Series at the Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art.

Recently, Jose added another feather to his cap by completing a second Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education at New Mexico State University. Under the mentorship of violinist Simon Gollo, he served as principal second violin with the NMSU Philharmonic. In 2020, he played principal second violin of the SW Honors Festival Orchestra, and in 2021, he took part in the New Mexico Festival and Orchestral Academy, both under the direction of Simon Gollo. His formative instruction from Bernard Zinck and Michael Ferril has also significantly contributed to his growth as a violinist.

This past summer, Jose participated in the Collaborative Piano and String Institute in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Join him in his musical journey, as he continues to foster a love for violin music and nurture emerging talents at LasCrucesViolinLessons.com.
